In Luweero district, more than 300 women occupying part of 1,208 hectares belonging to Mbaale Central forest reserve in Luweero district say they have nothing to celebrate due to the planned eviction and harassment by officials of National Forestry Authority-NFA.
Frank Twinamatsiko, the Chairperson Abasaija Kweyamba Mubuku Farming Cooperative Society Limited, says they were surprised last month when Shiwalama Commercial farmers limited and Bataka Lukooki Community issued them eviction notices claiming ownership of part of the scheme.
The proposal was subject for debate in a council meeting held last week, where it was suggested that the district uses part of the allocation for the Walukuba Estate resettlement plan to procure transport means for the Mayor and the Town Clerk.
