Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA rangers in conjunction with the Police picked up Baguma from his hideout in Kakindo village in Kakumiro district on January 10, 2022, after killing two Chimpanzees.
Julius Wamani, the grandfather says his grandson was attacked by the wild animal at around 11am on Thursday as he together with his friends had gone to fetch water from one of the village water sources.
The projection comes after the installation of Zakayo the second, as the heir to Ugandas oldest chimp Zakayo-the-first, who succumbed to old age and Chronic Gastroenteritis in April ending a 54-year-life journey that started in Semuliki National Park.
The chimpanzee snatched the baby from his siblings, who were taking care of him and run with him into nearby by bush. By the time he was rescued, the chimpanzee had bitten off the baby\'s private part and left toes.
