The House Appointments Committee chaired by Deputy Speaker, Anita Among on Tuesday backtracked on its earlier position and approved Kaboyo’s ministerial appointment. A total of 22 legislators from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party voted in favour of Kaboyo’s approval, 4 Opposition MPs rejected while 1 abstained.

Parliaments rules, privileges and discipline committee has recommended to parliament to open up proceedings of the appointments committee to the public. The recommendation is carried in the committee report to parliament on the amendment of the Rules of Procedure of parliament.
