Five people arrested in connection with an arson attack that claimed five lives in Nwoya district early this month have been remanded further to Gulu central Prison. The suspects are being prosecuted for five counts of murder related to the January 5th incident in which five family members died in a house fire in Kal A village in Koch Goma sub county.
Police in Hoima are holding a woman accused of torching her co-wifes grass-thatched house leading to the death of two children. The suspect is 24-year-old Scovia Tuhaise, a resident of Kihesi cell in Kigorobya town council.
Police is concerned that many people resorting to use of solar energy are not aware of how dangerous it can be. The concern was expressed through the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services in the Uganda Police Force.
Nine people are confirmed dead after fire burnt their house in the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred at Kasiba village, in Kyegonza Sub County in Gomba district. Police suspects unknown arsonists to have set ablaze the house of Willy Bagoma in which he was sleeping together with his wife and seven children.
