Derrick was arrested by Makerere University Police when he had gone to pick his suspension letter. He was arraigned before Grade one Magistrates court at Law Development Center and charged with assault after spending about three days at Wandegeya Police cells.
The February 2016 report by the Makerere University Kabasa Committee, instituted by the University Council to review Makereres financial situation, yet records different students figures to the publications cited so far. At the end of the 2014/15 academic year, the report shows that Makerere had 39,377 registered students. This figure is 169 students less than the number recorded in the Fact Book.
