“In the first half of 2024 alone, more than 150 attacks with explosive weapons were carried out, resulting in the death of at least 100 civilians and the injury of some 200 others. We call on both parties to immediately cease attacks on civilians and to stop using explosive weapons with a wide impact area in populated areas,” the report stated.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday in an operation conducted in Busei A village, Iganga District, where he was allegedly assembling explosives in his room.
The student, Abraham Tumusiime dismisses reports that he picked up the canister during running battles with the anti-riot police. The canister had been discharged by personnel deployed to disperse rowdy students who were protesting against a new tuition policy which required them to have cleared tuition by the 12th week of the semester.
The object exploded while a student identified as 13-year-Old Ashraf Igembe was playing with it in the Primary Seven class. The object had been brought to class by another pupil identified as Abdul Kasozi, who picked it on his way home and kept it t before bringing it to school the next day.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, they have established that the object was yesterday picked by 12- year old Kasozi on his way home and then carried it to school today.
