The workers, mostly elderly women who spoke told URN that they are exposed to dangerous materials and chemicals like battery acid, pesticides, rodents and metal blades among others, that are dumped carelessly after use. Many have sustained injuries in the process of cleaning up the municipality.
A survey by Uganda Radio Network has established that several schools are operating boarding sections in total disregard of the standards. The scenario which puts the lives of learners at risk has been witnessed in Wobulenzi Parents\' Day and Boarding Primary School, Buyuki Primary School, Ssempa Primary School, Trust Academy, Luweero Junior Primary School, Luweero Central S.S., New Life Secondary School and Everest College among others.
29-year- old Bosco Nuwandinda, a resident of Mwirandizo village in Kitumba Sub County, fell off the building after the timber he was walking on gave way.
Some of the schools include Kikuube Parents, Happy Hours Junior, New Ark Primary, Alpha and Omega Nursery and Primary, Creamland Nursery and Primary, God’s Love Junior, Nasser Foundation, Outspan Nursery and Primary,Jack and Jill Nursery, Mirembe Junior school among others.
