Lawyers representing the Pepper Publications Limited, a company that owns The Red Pepper say they will appeal judgment in which court awarded 425 million Shillings to retired Chief Justice Samuel William Wako Wambuzi in defamation damages.
His legal team recently asked court to stop New Vision from publishing stories about him. The plea was based on a story carried by New Vision on 31st January, 2014 alleging that Glaser and his victims were back together. They claimed that such stories were prejudicial and would influence the court processes.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has sued the Red Pepper Publications claiming she was defamed by a story published in September last year.The said story ran in the Sunday Pepper on September 9, 2012 under the headline \'More 300 tycoons lose property over debts- National Exclusive\'. Also sued are the editor in chief, Richard Tusiime and the reporter who filed the story, Isaac Tugume.
In his complaint, the army officer claims Dr Kobusingye in her book on page 15 paragraph 3 and on page 16 chapter 1, falsely wrote that unofficial reports indicated that three people had been killed and that Lt Col Ndahura and the PPU soldiers who perpetrated this violence, were never apprehended.
