Mirjam Blaak Sow, Ugandas Ambassador in Brussels says that the States should try as much as possible to have most of the core crimes tried in their countries instead of letting the ICC to intervene, because national justice cannot be achieved through an International Court.
The International Criminal Court ICC has called on state parties to step up providing assistance to victim survivors. ICC is commemorating 20 years of the signing of the Rome Statute which established Hague-based court.
The head of Information and Evidence Unit at the office of the ICC Prosecutor Mark P. Dillion said that the communication has been entered into the communications register and would be given consideration as appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Rome Statute.
Muyita told URN, that although the court has enough money for the usual cases, it requires at least 400 million to try Kwoyelo under the International Crimes Division. During the trial, all judges under the International Criminal Division will be moved to Gulu for a period of not less than one month.
However, Intelmann argues that the Rome Statute is a key tool in fighting impunity for the most serious of crimes that concern the International Community, adding that pulling out would endanger Kenya’s fight against impunity and injustice.
