A teacher at the school told our reporter on condition of anonymity that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 03:00PM when pupils were in class. A teacher says that the incident occurred during a downpour. He admitted that the school has no lightening conductors.
Naboth Kajungu, a resident of the area, says most of the schools in the area lack lightning arresters, which exposes pupils to danger. He calls on the local authorities to install lightning arresters to avoid a repeat of last nights incident.
Lighting struck dead three children and injured another six in Lira district on Tuesday. The incident occurred at 4:30pm at Aromo trading centre in Erute North, Aromo sub-county as children, all pupils of Akore Primary School, sought shelter under a mango tree during an afternoon downpour.
Vincent Kalule 29 and Joseph Luyinda both residents of Bbuliro village died on the spot, while Ali Byakatonda, Godfrey Ssemakulaand Mukasa Joseph are admitted at Kalisizo Hospital with serious injuries.
