The money will help in restoration of degraded wetlands in different parts of the country. The eight-year project is supported with a US24.14 million grant from the Green Climate Fund, US2 million from UNDP and US18.12 million in co-financing from the Government of Uganda.

Kikwete Rallies African Countries On Climate Change 2

Tanzanian Jakaya Kikwete has said there is need for Africa to urgently stem the carbon emissions as well as temperature rises. Kikwete’s comments came shortly after a new report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) indicated that African countries are increasingly vulnerable to climate change and could struggle to feed and defend their people as temperatures rise.
