In children with acute uncomplicated malaria, response to treatment with Ganaplacide was similar to the rate observed in patients who received artemether-Lumefantrine control therapy where more than 80% effectiveness was recorded. Ganaplacide also demonstrated similar median parasite-clearing times compared to the control therapy and the solid dispersion formulation was also generally well tolerated in the children.
Dr. Stuart Musisi, the Masaka District Health Officer, says National Medical Stores never supplied them malaria drugs in the last quarter. He however, declined to divulge details on the matter, saying he is locked up in an important meeting.
The Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda has petitioned Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to look into the operations of Quality Chemicals Limited. The organisation argues that Quality Chemicals is in breach of agreement with government of Uganda that has seen it hike prices of Anti-retroviral drugs and anti-malaria drugs.
