According to Isanga, the church can only have the moral conviction to resist homosexuality when financially dependent on in-house solutions like involvement in agriculture and other small-scale industries to boost their incomes for development, which over time can help them to resist conditional funding aimed at promoting immorality.
In a sermon delivered by Reverend Daniel Byamureba at St. Luke, Kazo Church of Uganda, Namirembe Diocese, Christians have also been urged to uphold their responsibilities amidst several temptations. Rev.Acur 57, was consecrated the first Bishop of new West Lango Diocese on Sunday at Aduku St Peters Church of Uganda during a ceremony that was presided over by the president Yoweri Museveni.
He was appointed by the house of Bishops on July 17th 2014 at Lweza training and conference center as the first Bishop of West Lango Diocese.
The Church of Uganda is encouraged by the work of Ugandaâ€™s Parliament in amending the Anti-Homosexuality Bill to remove the death penalty, to reduce sentencing guidelines through a principle of proportionality, and to remove the clause on reporting homosexual behaviour, as we had recommended in our 2010 position statement on the Bill.
During the launch in Hoima on Thursday, the Omukama blamed Western culture for the immoral acts of homosexuality and lesbianism gaining ground in Uganda. The king lauded the inter-religious council of Uganda for denouncing homosexuality despite financial promises by some western countries. He said homosexuality is not cultural and those supporting it are \"Bagwagwa\", a Runyoro word to mean fools.
