Taban Chiriga, the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department Mbarara Central Police Station says some of the suspects have confessed that a director of a new school in Mbarara has been paying them to burn down schools.
Properties worth millions of shillings were on Sunday night burnt to ashes in a fire incident that gutted hotel Pan Afric in Lira town.
The fire that broke out at around 11:15 pm on Sunday reportedly is believed to have been sparked of by electricity power irregularity at the hotel.
Kenya Airways says it has resumed domestic operations after containing a huge fire that destroyed the Arrivals Section of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). As the fire outbreaks continue to raze properties and kill people, schools and key public places in Luweero have ignored installing fire extinguishers in their premises. The few that bought fire extinguishers have abandoned servicing making them ineffective in times of a fire outbreak.
Over 30 timber rental structures in Banda- Nabuuza Zone, along Jinja Road, have burnt down this morning. The fire started at 9:00am after the morning downpour, when most of the occupants had left for work and spread rapidly.
