The Police Flying Squad on Sunday shot dead three suspected armed robbers who had planned a robbery at Azam factory and Kingdom Rice in Namanve industrial area.
The arrests come a week after the deployment of special operatives to investigate a wave of insecurity in the districts of Sembabule, Kyotera, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Masaka and Lwengo.
The suspects are held at Hoima Central Police Station on charges of theft and burglary. Hakiza declined to disclose the identities of the remaining suspects.
Jonan Atuhura who was last week sacked as principal private secretary to the King of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom is being held at the Hoima central police station following his arrest on Sunday evening.
Statistics at the police Professional Standards Unit indicate that approximately 50 complaints are made against operatives of the flying squad annually. The complaints made by victims and commanders range from extortion, torture and theft.

Maxwell Ogwal, the Greater Masaka Region Police Commander, says they suspect robbers connive with the car dealers to steal vehicles. He identifies some of the latest stolen vehicles as registration number UAS 296QD, UAX 993G and UAW 201W.
Addressing journalists at Parliament this afternoon, William Nzoghu, the Busongora North MP, said despite the fact that the Defense minister, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga hails from Kasese, the rising insecurity, mainly instigated by security personnel is proof that government is fuelling the attacks.
Herbert Muhangi, the Commandant of the Police Flying Squad Division has confirmed the arrest of the security personnel and their connection to more than 5 robberies. I can confirm that we arrested the officers some of whom will be charged in the Military Court martial and others in Civilian Courts, Muhangi told URN.
