Uganda’s fuel prices are the highest in East Africa at ugx4,590 per liter followed by Burundi’s ugx4,290. Tanzania has the lowest price of ugx 3,780 per liter, Rwanda ugx4,060, and Kenya, ugx4, 180.
Transport fares from Gulu to Pabo increased from 5,000 Shillings to 10,000 Shillings, Gulu to Atiak from 10,000 to 20,000 Shillings even after restrictions on transport were relaxed.
Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko told parliament that the current increase in the fuel prices was to affect Ugandans who he said are to pay higher prices for goods and services following the increase in the cost of fuel by petroleum companies.
