Jesca Atai, the program manager of Narua -a Community Based Organization advocating for women’s rights and good governance in Kotido District says that the decision is a milestone in all efforts to bring women’s issues to the forefront taking precedence in the district councils and eventually transforming communities.
Richard Oboi, the Soroti District Planner says that four billion will be spent on capital development especially the construction of classrooms, teachers’ houses and pit latrines while the rest of money will be used for wages and operations.
The Inspector General of Police has asked sub county and district councils to allocate funds in their budgets to fuel of Police vehicles during operations. The police budget was reduced from Shillings 612 billion shillings in 2014/15 to Shillings 516 billion in the current Financial Year and that in the 2017/18, the budget will be cut further to Shillings 506 billion.
The proposal was tabled by workers\' MP, Arinaitwe Rwakajara, during an interface with the Public Service and Local Government committee of Parliament. The committee is receiving proposals from different stakeholders on the proposed amendment bill.
