All the four toilet blocks in the University used by both girls and boys are filthy and have not been cleaned since the non teaching staff started their strike on 3rd August over what they term as salary discrimination.
The Public Universities Non-Teaching Staff Executive Forum PUNTSEF has rejected a proposal by the government to postpone the increment of their salaries to the next financial year.
To ensure equity in the salary enhancement across categories of staff in Public Universities, Government will with effect from next FY 2016/17 enhance salaries for the Non-Teaching Staff.
It came after government included a pay rise for teaching staff in Public universities the 2015/2016 financial but left out left the non-teaching staff.
The non-teaching staff claim that in the recent planning indicative figures to all the universities, the finance ministry only made salary increment to the teaching staff, leaving out the administrative and support staff out of the proposed increment.
