Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson David Ongom Mudong acknowledged cases of crime are still being registered. He, notes that despite the recent arrests, it’s impossible to wipe out crimes within a just few days.
Gulu City has dozens of hotspot areas across the 128 villages in Pece – Laroo and Bardege - Layibi Divisions that include Go-Down, Industrial Area, Kasubi, For God, Kirombe in Kabedopong, St. Mauritz Trading Centre, Unyama, Cuk Pa Atuku and Cenyjere are hideouts for the wrongdoers.
Walter Okello, the Omel Parish LC III Councilor identified the most affected as Kuru and Akamdyang villages. He explains that unidentified thugs have been terrorizing the village over the past week stealing foodstuff, animals and poultry.
Geoffrey Oceng Osborn, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner, and District Security Committee Chairperson says security has been conducting operations in the affected areas to combat the criminal gangs.
