Returnees Still Far from Resettlement in Northern Uganda-New Study discrimination 2 1 Top story

According to the study, 55.7% of the people who spent between 1 to 3 years in captivity returned home but were never resettled. The study was conducted between August 2019 and July 2020 in Omoro, Pader, Amuru, Nwoya and Agago district in Acholi Sub Region, which suffered the brunt of the Insurgency.

After forcing people from their villages into concentrated camps were the LRA previously derived food and other necessity, the only gateway to such livelihood including food became attacking the military rings around the camps, Ayena said.

The ruling follows a plea by local leaders in Northern Uganda and relatives to rebels in the Lord\'s Resistance Army who have been advocating for a traditional justice system instead of modern courts of law in the trial of the arrested LRA commanders.
