Company Awarded UGX 181 Billion Over Ban on Sand Mining in Lwera Lwera Wetland 1

The company, owned by Pastor Daniel Walugembe, petitioned the High Court Civil Division last year, challenging a directive by Parliament to ban their sand mining activities. The ban was effected after Parliament’s Natural Resources Committee received complaints that several companies were engaged in illegal sand mining and export.

The Natural Resources Committee of Parliament has this afternoon directed Aqua World Limited to immediately halt its sand mining activities in Kamalira Village, Nkozi Sub-county, Mpigi district. Aqua World Uganda Limited, a company belonging to Pastor Samuel Kakande of Synagogue Church of All Nations, has been in the news for reportedly mining sand illegally.
