The National Resistance Movement NRM members in Moroto are asking the party top leadership to severely punish the district leadership for aiding ethnic division. The party members who are travelling to Kampala to meet President Museveni argue that the district leaders were behind ethnic divisions recently encountered by the Matheniko and the Tepeth during the party primaries for the Moroto parliamentary by-election.
Stella Atyang, the ruling NRM party candidate for Moroto district woman Parliamentary seat, has sailed through unopposed. Atyang is now set to occupy the seat that fell vacant on February 14th following the death of her niece, Annie Logiel.
The ruling party held primary elections in Moroto on Monday to choose a candidate for the district Woman Parliamentary seat which fell vacant on February 14 following the death of Annie Logiel. The primary polls, pitting former Member of Parliament Margaret Iriama and Logiels niece, Stella Atyang, appear to have created rifts in the party.
Stella Atyang, a niece to the late Moroto Woman Member of Parliament Annie Logiel, is the ruling NRM party flag bearer for the parliamentary by-election slated for April 26, 2017. The district woman parliamentary seat fell vacant in February this year following the death of Logiel.
