Balimwoyo joined Uganda Police Force in 1974 as a Probation Police Constable –PPC. He rose through the ranks until he attained the highest rank of AIGP in 2011. He served as District CID commander, Regional CID commander, head of the property squad, and commander coffee marketing investigations unit.
