Benson Katyango Boeing, a Senior Education Officer of Kotido district says girls are at the risk of dropping out of school once their parents don’t give them another chance to study and complete their education because despite early pregnancies.
The students were traveling aboard a UPDF truck to Kotido town for holidays but it overturned while negotiating a corner less than 2 kilometers from Nakapelimoru Army Senior Secondary School along Kotido-Moroto Road on Friday evening.
World Food Program supplies maize grain to schools in Karamoja in order to ensure that children have midday meals and can concentrate in class. By close of last term, there was a balance of 400 kilograms of grain in the school stores, according to the school records.
According to the ordinance, local leaders are supposed to mobilize children of school going age to attend school. They are also required to ensure that children within their areas are not subjected to paid labour or any income generating activities during school hours.
