Bishop Odurkami was appointed by the retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Rt. Rev. Stanley Ntagali to caretake the troubled Kumi Diocese following the failed consecration of Rev. Charles Okunya over inconsistency in his age among other things.
The suspects were picked up for attacking Rev. Martin Ejiet, the Archdeacon of Ngora Archdeaconry, Rev. Sam Opolot and some Christians. The attackers, some of whom are said were armed with machetes invaded the church compound as early as 6:00 am and seized the vestry.
During the handover of the founder Bishop of Kumi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Thomas Edson Irigei in December, the Archbishop, Stanley Ntagali told the congregation that the outcome of the investigations would be ready by February 1st.
Archbishop Ntagali told the congregation after taking over the diocese that a three-member committee has been appointed to investigate the allegations against Oode. The committee comprises of The Rt. Rev. George Kasangaki of Masindi-Kitara Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Samuel Bogere Egesa of Bukedi Diocese and The Rt. Rev. Patrick Gidudu of Mbale Diocese.
