President Yoweri Museveni donated 50 million Shillings to the club in May, which he handed over to the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA delegate in Tooro sub-region, Michael Wandera. However, some of the public members have come out to task the team’s management to provide accountability on how the funds have always been spent.
Tooro Province Football Club represents Tooro in a competition that brings together teams from Buganda, Bunyoro, Ankole, Kigezi, West Nile, Acholi, Lango, Teso, Karamoja, Busoga, Bugisu, Rwenzori, Kampala and Sebei. Ever since the tournament started three months ago, hundreds of fans have turned up at Buhinga Playground in Fort Portal to cheer their team play against other provinces.

The Tooro Kingdom Clan football tournament hangs in balance following the recent conflicts in the Kingdom. The tournament was supposed to kick off today at Buhinga playgrounds, but by 2:00pm there were no signs that the tournament would take place.
The football fans are unhappy that the enthusiasm for the sport is no longer strong as it was in the past. They cite the days when Kabarole district was represented in the National Super League by Tooro United in the 1990s. However since then, no team from the district has played in the national super league.
According to the sports officers from Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge and Bundibugyo districts, the poor funding for sports is hindering the development of sports in the region. The officers who met in Fort Portal on Monday to work out a plan to improve sports in the region, unanimously agreed to petition the respective district councils to increase the funding for sports activities in the next financial year.
