A Uganda National Roads Authority UNRA official and the Masaka Municipal engineer have boycotted a committee investigating alleged fraud and poor state of roads in Masaka district. On Friday Members of Parliament from Masaka district who sit on the district road Committee started investigating how monies under the Uganda Road Fund were utilised. Last financial year, Masaka district got at least 1.1 billion shillings from Uganda Road Fund of which 950 million shillings went to Masaka Municipality.

Some members of the Pokot in Amudat district are adjusting to life without practising female genital mutilation or FGM, a treasured cultural practice in their community. Out of the 225 villages practising FGM in Karamoja, 96 have publicly abandoned the practice. In Amudat, 34 villages have since been declared FGM free.

Police in Soroti district have arrested a woman for allegedly strangling her baby to death at birth. Twenty-year-old Evaline Amita reportedly killed the baby soon after giving birth and buried it in a shallow grave behind her house.
