The object of the Bill is to establish the Institute of Parliamentary Studies as a one-stop specialized resource centre for the training and capacity development of Members and Staff of Parliament of Uganda, Local Councils and other Legislatures within the region.
The residents encroached on the forest reserve in Kalangala town with expectations that the government would degazzete it for human settlement. The reserve covering 174 hectares of land, is now home to more than 400 residents.

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has this afternoon given the Education Committee up to 10th December to present a report on their inquiry into the recent unrest and brutal attack on Makerere University Students by security personnel.
The deportees were arrested in a joint security operation involving the army and Police in the areas of Russia, MuLine and Karumena in Kisoro district in the wee hours of Monday morning. The operation netted more than 200 people, some of who did not have any identification document.
During his meeting with Kadaga, they agreed to further cooperation in the oil and energy sector, which both countries are currently pursuing. They also pledged to cooperate on the exploitation and development of solar energy.
The two were acquitted after the cross examination of Ssebuyungo who changed his plea of not guilty to guilty and testified against his accomplices. Ssebuyungo only implicated Muhammad Wamala for spearing all the murders and a police officer Harriet Nabitaka revealing that only knew about the acquitted in the cell but did not directly work with them.
Ahmed Musakana, the Luweero District Police Commander, says the deceased’s remains were transported to Luweero Hospital where a postmortem was done before it was handed over to the family for burial. Without divulging details, Musakana, said they are trailing some suspects.
George William Okwaput, a close relative to the deceased says the couple has been embroiled in some misunderstanding for some time when Alayo expressed her intension to quit the relation after staying for a decade without formalizing the marriage.
