Preliminary reports indicate that victims were arrested by a group of three yet to be identified Prison Warders arrested the duo shortly after drawing water from the well and ordering them to go inside the prison premises where they were subjected to untold assault and torture by prison warders.
Prison warders at Arua Main Government Prison are in the spotlight for allegedly torturing a 17-year-old teenager to death and severely injuring another individual. The deceased, Felix Afeku, was a resident of Prison Cell, Kenya Ward in Arua City and operated a salon in the area, while the injured victim, Gerald Andruga, is from the same neighborhood.
Felix Afeku died at Arua Regional Referral Hospital after being rushed there by prison authorities following the alleged torture. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning around 2:00 am when Afeku and Andruga went to fetch water from a public well near Arua Prisons Primary School.
According to preliminary reports, the duo was arrested by three yet-to-be-identified prison warders shortly after drawing water. The warders allegedly ordered them inside the prison premises, where they were subjected to brutal assault and torture.
According to Gerald Andruga, the surviving victim, they had gone to the well to get drinking water for his friend, Afeku, who was suffering from ulcers. Despite their pleas to the prison officers that they were not criminals but residents, the warders ignored them, handcuffed them, and took them inside the prison, where they were severely tortured.
