The Mbale Mayor, Mutwalib Zandya has clashed with Authur Mugwa, the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Charge of Northern Division over the alleged sale of Kumi road Taxi Park.

It all started in a meeting convened by the by Mbale Municipality Stakeholders Committee dubbed “Transformation” held on Monday.

During the meeting, the Committee Chairperson, Musa Kasaija asked members to speak freely on why the municipality has failed to realize local revenue collection so that that they can find e solutions to the problem.

In his response, Mugwa accused some leaders of frustrating their efforts to decongest Mbale-Kumi road of taxis.

He claimed that taxi drivers have refused to vacate Kumi road to create space for street parking, saying they have nowhere to go because the taxi park was sold to developers.

Mugwa told the meeting that he has copies of running leases given to people who own plots in the park, which didn’t go down well with the mayor.
