Red Top Men Attack MPs in Parliament

Parliament was at 4;00pm attacked by two men who jumped from the strangers gallery to the floor of the house attacking Members of Parliament.

Two men jumped from the strangers gallery in parliament this afternoon to the floor of the house. The incident happened at 4pm.

The house became chaotic when the two men started punching MPs indiscriminately. Some MPs fought back. The men jumped to where the MPs sat on the ruling National Resistance Movement side.

The two men who donned red tops are suspected to be linked to red top brigade. The "brigade" is opposed to president Museveni‚Äôs leadership. 

They entered Parliament  distributing documents titled "A letter to Africa and Uganda", stop cropping out citizens.

The two men have since been identified as Dafaala Ssenjako and Mutaasa Kafero who calls himself the red top commander. They have been arrested and are being interrogated.

Nwoya MP, Simon Oyet  and State Minister for Sports, Hamson Obua who were attacked by one of the assailants  fought back.

They also helped in dragging one of the attackers out of  the floor of Parliament.

Oyet told journalists at the Parliament lobby that Parliament cannot be attacked by any one.

Internal affairs Minister Obiga Kania ordered that no one else be allowed to enter Parliament, as investigations continue.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga decried the incident. She asked MPs to stay within Parliament until when the motive of the duo is established.
