Youth Group Chairperson says the party is being operated by cliques that were
personalized by a few leaders at the district council; something he says has
fueled intrigue and division amongst members.
He also blames the Sembabule District NRM party leadership led by Kutesa, for
failing to convene a single party meeting since they were elected into office
in 2015, despite the sharp divisions arising from the bitter power

Nangumya explains that the divisions and political intrigue that emanate from
the party structures have spread and openly manifest in the general leadership
platforms, where they have frustrated cohesion and affected services delivery
in the district.
He argues that they
are now pursuing a campaign for the rebirth of NRM in Sembabule by pushing out
the current party leadership.

Bashir Arineitwe, the Sembabule District NRM Youth League Vice Chairperson,
says the division has equally affected the district youth council. He says the
council is divided along cliques, which eventually affects the independence of
councilors during council debates and undermines free speech.
Apparently, the pressure group is committing their energies to mobilize NRM
members to denounce the current district NRM leadership and replace them
with leaders that are accountable to the electorates.

Kutesa hasn’t yet
commented on the accusations leveled against his leadership as he is out of the
country. However, the Sembabule District NRM Publicity Secretary, Patrick
Nkalubo has asked the youth against acting out of emotions, saying some of the
inadequacies are beyond their control at the district level.
