The five-year Albertine Region Sustainability Development Project III was designed to upgrade two technical Institutions; the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba and Uganda Technical College Kichwamba to international certification levels. The project that started in 2014 was also meant to construct a new institution in Nwoya District.
Internal affairs state minister Obiga Kania says the responsibility of security against armed rebels in South Sudan lies with the government there but was quick to add that the foreign affairs ministry is taking up the matter and will report back to parliament.

Jamie Byaruhanga, the head engineer at Signet says that they are currently not able to host more clients onto the network because it has hit its 40-channel limit. He said that all 18 sites in the country are operational except Gulu which has been down for a year and a half due to faulty equipment.
