John Muzeeyi Kayima, the Chairperson of Mugoye Sub-county, says the five roads are in a sorry state due to reduced maintenance funds in the last two financial years.
His closest challenger Diana Ninsiima Kibuuka had 723 votes, followed by Diana Angwech with 151 votes, Chemisto Suaib who had 133 votes, Olivia Kyarimpa with 52 votes and Mukuve Mugaga with 15 votes.
Leading and speaking on behalf of the market vendors, Sam Kutesa noted that many of them have vacated the market over the said rates. Kitooro market has 1,075 spaces for stalls and lock-up shops but less than 300 vendors currently occupy spaces in the market.

But according to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Area Deputy Spokesperson, at least three people and a vehicle Isuzu Elf are believed to be trapped under the rubble after part of the stone quarry collapsed.
