South Sudan U-20 team
Tanzania’s
head coach Zubeiry Katwila has said they have what it takes to win the Cecafa
U-20 Challenge Cup trophy.
The
Tanzanian side takes to the field this afternoon in the first Group B match at
the Fufa Technical Center Stadium in Njeru.
Katwila told
URN that his boys are in shape and have not just come to participate but rather
win the trophy. "Our boys are very ready to carry the trophy home,” added
the confident coach.
The Tanzanian
skipper Dickson Job also made it clear they are prepared to prove a point. "It
is true that Uganda is among those teams that have frustrated our hopes in
several tournaments. But this time we are better prepared,” he added.
Ethiopia's
head coach Yosef Tesfaye however warned that Tanzania should not be too
confident because all these players are in the same age brackets and can
compete.
The second
game in Group B will see Kenya’s Raising Stars face Zanzibar on Day 2 of the
regional tournament.
In the first
game played at the Njeru venue on Saturday Burundi came from behind to force a
3-3 draw against South Sudan.
Striker Dani
Lual Gumnok scored a hat-trick for South Sudan, while Burundi Yassin Dushime,
Karim Niyonkuru (penalty) and Hamimu Hakizimana netted for Burundi.
The regional
tournament sponsored by the Federation of International Football Associations
(FIFA) and has attracted 11 teams will climax on October 5th.
