Journalist Defeats Ntungamo LCV Incumbent

Singahache has of lately been troubled with an impeachment move by his councilors who accuse him of abuse of office and incompetence. He ran to court and obtained a court order blocking councilors from impeaching him.

Samuel Mucunguzi, a radio journalist with vision group has been declared the Ntungamo District LC V NRM party flag bearer.  He has defeated the incumbent Denis Singahache. Mucunguzi hosts a talk show called Wamanya on Radio west.

Maria Mirembe, the Ntungamo district NRM presiding officer has this morning at 10:55 AM declared Mucunguzi the winner with 68,251 votes,  beating his closest rival,  incumbent Singahache who collected 33,151 votes. Others are Magambo Mpumwire who managed 19,728 votes and Tom Muhoozi with 21,964 votes.

Denis Singahache has been the district chairperson for 10 tens years since 2010, having succeeded John Wyclif Karazarwe who was the first district chairperson in 1993 when Ntungamo was curved from Mbarara and Bushenyi Districts.

Singahache has of lately been troubled with an impeachment move by his councillors who accuse him of abuse of office and incompetence. He ran to court and obtained a court order blocking councillors from impeaching him. The case is now awaiting a hearing.

Meanwhile, Jemimah Buhanda Twijukye has also defeated the Sheema district incumbent to hold the NRM party flag for LC V chairperson. Buhanda defeated Can. David Kabigumira, the first district chairperson for Sheema district who has been in office since 2016.

Buhanda garnered 25,250 votes (38 per cent) to win, followed by Labana Muhabwe who collected 20,212 votes (30.4 per cent) and the incumbent came third with 11,059 votes (16.6 per cent) and Eldard Mwesigye got 9,967(15 per cent) votes.
