A yet to be identified man has been killed in a hit-and-run accident at Kyakala Cell in Migeera Town Council, Nakasongola District along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police mouthpiece says that the force’s initial investigations suggest that the victim was struck by a speeding vehicle.
A yet to be identified man has been killed in a hit-and-run
accident at Kyakala Cell in Migeera Town Council, Nakasongola District along
the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson says
that their initial investigations suggest that the victim was struck by a
speeding vehicle.
He says they identified the killer vehicle as a saloon
type with Registration Number UBP 668C, which was en route to Kampala from Gulu
side.
He says eyewitnesses reported that the deceased had been
crossing the highway when the car, moving at a high speed, knocked him.
The driver reportedly did not stop to render assistance,
fleeing the scene immediately after the incident.
Twiineamazima explains that the front number plate of the
fleeing vehicle was recovered from the accident site, providing a crucial lead
for investigators.
The body of the deceased he says has been transported to
Nakasongola HC IV mortuary for postmortem.
Meanwhile, Police are continuing with their manhunt for the
driver responsible for this tragic incident.

This accident has occurred just a day later when a related one happened.
Two people died on the spot and one was injured in a fatal road
accident at Kakondi village in Wabinyonyi Sub-County, about 118 kilometers into
Nakasongola District along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
The accident occurred when a commuter taxi a Toyota Hiace, Registration
Number UBL 232G, collided with a motorcycle (Bajaj Boxer, Reg. No. UFG 032M and
a bicycle.
The deceased were identified as Ssemwanga Steven, 62, the
motorcyclist, and Nakalumba Shadia, 17, the pedal cyclist.
The injured individual, a pedestrian named Namwoya Rehemah, 15, was
been transported to Nakasongola HC IV for medical treatment.
The three casualties involved in the accident were residents of
Sikaye village in Wabinyonyi Sub-County.
