Police Arrest Prime Suspect in Kibaale Man Murder

Makumbi was slaughtered on Sunday night and his torso dumped along the roadside. The assailants took off with the deceased’s head, which is yet to be recovered.

Kibaale police has picked up Godfrey Matovu as the prime suspect in the brutal killing of Richard Makumbi, a resident of Kamusenene village in Nyamarwa Sub County.  

Makumbi was slaughtered on Sunday night and his torso dumped along the roadside. The assailants took off with the deceased’s head, which is yet to be recovered.  

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says the suspect was picked up because he threatened to end the deceased’s life the day he was killed.

According to Hakiza, the suspect has for long been feuding with the deceased over a piece of land.  

Hakiza says the suspect who is detained at Kibaale Central Police Station will be arraigned in court for murder once police investigations are complete.

Meanwhile, police in Kagadi is investigating circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of 48-year-old, Yunis Kagenyi, a resident of Kobushera village Mpefu Sub County.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, says Kagenyi was hacked severally on the neck by unknown assailants on Tuesday afternoon. 

Her body lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood in her garden around 7pm on Tuesday.

Hakiza attributes most of the murders in Kibaale, Kakumiro and Kagadi districts to land wrangles and domestic violence.
