Pupils Injured as Movit Truck Rams into Schools Bus

Several pupils of St Agnes primary school in Entebbe are admitted in Entebbe Grade B General Hospital and Emmanuel hospital in Katabi following a motor accident.  

The pupils were injured on Friday afternoon when the school bus they were traveling in for the Inter School’s Cricket and Woodball games in Lugogo, Kampala collided with a Movit truck along Entebbe road, close to Victoria mall in Entebbe municipality.   

Ismail Kasasa, an eye witness, says the Movit truck rammed into the school bus as it tried to make a U turn to enter Victoria Mall. According to Kasasa, the driver tried to save the children but the bus fell in a trench and overturned three times. 

Some of the children sustained major injuries while others escaped with minor injuries. Those with minor injuries were rushed to Entebbe Grade B general hospital while those with major injuries ended up in Emmanuel hospital in Katabi.

Three of those admitted at Entebbe Hospital with fractures are Amos Nkurunziza, Stella Namusisi and Alex Lukyamuzi. Brian Waiswa, the Director Emmanuel hospital, says the children will be better as they are working on them.

A bodaboda cyclist whose identity hasn’t been established was also involved in the same accident. 

He sustained injuries and was also rushed to Entebbe grade B hospital. Residents say several accidents occur around Victoria Mall each day.
