Residents Accuse Chairperson of Office Misuse

More than 550 residents of Gitta– Nabutaka zone in Kasangati town council in Wakiso district are up in arms against their LC 1 chairperson, Andrew Nsamba for allegedly misusing his office.  

The residents have signed a petition with a litany of accusations against Nsamba. 

He is accused of among others being involved in land wrangles, forging land agreements, connivance with land grabbers and damaging the, property of residents, food crops and planning illegal arrests of residents for his selfish interests.

They also accused Nsamba of failing to handle land cases in his jurisdiction as stipulated in the local council courts Act 2006 and the local council courts regulations 2007 forcing residents to forward most of their cases to local council court at the parish level, boasting, using abusive languages to the extent of assaulting residents. 

Charles Kabenge, a resident of Gitta village, says the chairperson used force to take their plot of land and built a house on it.

John Nyanzi, another resident says Nsamba doesn’t respect residents and runs the local council like his private home.

Pascal Kiguli says that the chairperson connives with land grabbers to take over residents and wants the district leadership to intervene.

Tomas Bakyayita Kentos, the Nangabo parish LC II Chairperson, says he has received many complaints against chairperson brought by residents.  

He noted that the biggest problem with the chairperson is insulting residents.

Nsamba has tasked all residents accusing him of land grabbing to table their evidence.
