Col. George Nambafu, the Chairman Fourth Division Court Martial then remanded the suspects to Gulu Central Prison till May 10th when the hearing will start. This according to Nambafu is to give ample time for the prosecution to conclude their investigations.
The
Fourth Division Court Martial has remanded a total of 15 suspects to Gulu
Central Prison for alleged treason.
The
suspects have been identified as Collins Lincoln Ongei, Frank Cajetan Onentho,
Richard Obonyo, Fred Ocan, Bernard Okello, Steve Jakisa and Alex Komakech.
Others
are Denise Palyel, Francis Ocungi –rwoth, Valentino Alworonga, Ronald Oryema,
Gerald Ocowun, Alfoncia Olama and Michael Omony.
Court
heard that the accused persons on April 1st in Nebbi District were
planning to wage war against the government, a treasonous offense contrary to
Section 23(1)(c) of the Penal Code Act.
Prosecution
led by Captain Augustine Tumwebaze told court that deeper investigation into
the case is still ongoing. He asked court for adjournment to give time for
investigations before hearing commences.
