Agago police are holding an 18-year-old girl accused of killing her colleague in a fight.

Alice Laker reportedly beat up 17-year-old Vicky Ajalo on Saturday afternoon at a water source in Lakee village in Omot Sub-county. Ajalo died on arrival at Omot Health Center III where locals had rushed her for treatment.

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Sunday that the fighting between the teenagers started over a piece of African fabric alias Kitenge.

Okema says the suspect accused her colleague of stealing the Kitenge, which led to a fight. He notes that Laker overpowered Ajalo during the fight and beat her unconscious. She passed out moments later prompting residents to rush her to a nearby health facility where breathed her last.

Okema says the suspect initially fled into hiding but police apprehended on Sunday afternoon. She is in custody at Patongo Central Police station as investigations are ongoing.

The District Criminal Investigation Officer and the Scene of Crime Officer-SOCO visited the crime scene on Saturday for proper investigations, according to Okema. The deceased's body was still lying at Omot Health Center III morgue by the time of filing this story.
