Two people have died in Luweero district after taking suspected poisoned alcohol. Godfrey Ninsiima, the Luweero District Police Commander identifies the deceased as Livingstone Sentongo and Livingstone Kakooza, residents of Kikoma village in Wobulenzi town council and Buseebwe village in Kakooge Sub County, Nakasongola District respectively. The duo met their death on Sunday shortly drinking at Nzera Namusisi’s bar in Wobulenzi town council. It is alleged that the two men went to the bar and ordered for glasses of crude waragi.

However, they started complaining of stomach complications shortly after taking the alcohol and lied on the floor. Sentongo passed away few minutes later, which attracted the attention of the residents. They notified police, which immediately rushed to the area and took Kakooza to Njovu Medical Centre in Wobulenzi town council for treatment, where he was pronounced dead three hours later. Jackson Ogwal, a nurse at Njovu Medical Center says they believe Kakooza could have died of poisoning.

He however, says his body has been taken to Kasana Health Center IV for an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death. Scovia Nassaazi, a sister to Kakooza explains that her brother left home to go and vend some herbs. She explains that after selling the herbs, Kakooza went to the bar to take some alcohol as has been his habit, but didn’t even complete the bottle of alcohol he ordered with his friend as they started complaining of pain in the stomach. But Nzera Namusisi, the owner of the bar says that the duo was already drunk when they came to her bar.

She says that when their health started deteriorating, she immediately she called the area Chairperson Sam Kibuuka, but by the time he arrived, Sentongo was already dead. Godfrey Ninsiima, the Luweero District Police Commander could neither confirm nor deny reports the duo died of poisoning saying they are still awaiting postmortem results. He says despite the fact that no one has been arrested in connection to the death of the two men, police has already embarked on investigations.
