2019 Africa Netball Cup: Uganda Overpower Kenya to Finish Third

Uganda She Cranes have defeated arch-rivals Kenya in their last game at the 2019 Africa Netball Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. 

The She Cranes defeated Kenya by 19 goals with the game ending  61-42. 

Uganda came strong in the first quarter leading 17-11 and 29-22  by half time. In the third quarter Uganda outpaced  Kenya 44-33 and finally wrapped it up winning 61-42.

Although Uganda failed to defend the title, Mubiru says he was happy they were able to give an opportunity to young and upcoming players to battle against stronger and more experienced teams. "They managed to be  third in Africa, which is not bad", Mubiru said after the match.

Kenya's coach Joseph Makau says he is happy that this was the first time his team had scored 40 goals at this year's annual competition. "I'm so happy the girls went for it. it's a positive progress because we have been improving since day one,"  added Makau. The competition attracted 7 national teams including hosts South Africa, Malawi, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Zambia 

Hosts South Africa who were unbeaten were crowned champions, while the Malawi Queens finished second.
