The Community of Koch Goma Sub County in Nwoya District on Monday morning woke up to bad news after a 60-year old man committed suicide by hanging himself.
The deceased in his 60s without identification documents was found hanging on a tree. Locals who were going to the gardens on Monday morning found his body hanging on the tree.
The incident occurred in Agonga village from Koch Goma Sub County in Nwoya District.
Robert Lakony, the LCI of Agonga village told Uganda Radio Network (URN) on Monday that the body has been taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
He noted that the deceased could have been working in one of the farms in the area.
“We have assembled the community but nobody has identified him but this is the third incident in the area,” added Lakony.

Lakony however revealed that three unidentified men have committed suicide in the area in a period of two weeks, something he says is disturbing.
The case has been reported to Koch Goma Police Post under SD Ref: 09/08/2021. The Aswa River Regional Police Spokesperson David Ongom Mudong says police has started investigating the cause of death.
According to the report from Gulu-Sheffield Mental Health Partnership, 8 people died by suicide in Acholi Sub Region between January and October 2020 alone. The highest deaths were reported in Agago District with 20, Omoro followed with 14, Gulu 13, Pader 12 respectively.
Police have however attributed most the suicide cases in the region to domestic violence, land conflicts and others with chronic illnesses.
