Amolatar Resident Killed Over Land Dispute

One person has been killed in a land dispute.

Jimmy Opio, 36, a resident of Barayom village, Angwingiri Sub County was on Tuesday attacked and beaten by members of his clan.

Samuel Abedi, the Amolatar District Police Commander says the group had for long been engaged in a land wrangle with the deceased whom they accused of grabbing their family land.

Abedi says that a female suspect is in police custody and the hunt for seven other suspects is on.

Police detectives from the homicide department recovered three spears and sticks with blood stains from the scene of crime.

Joseph Okello, 41, a resident of Barayom village says several attempts to resolve the dispute between the deceased and his relatives failed.

On Tuesday during the launch of newly acquired police band for North Kyoga regional headquarter in Lira town, AIGP Assan Kasingye asked District Police Commanders to embark on community policing to sensitize local residents against land wrangles.
