Amolatar Teacher Killed in Dokolo Motor Accident

He was reportedly knocked and died instantly by a speeding passenger vehicle, Toyota-Noah registration number UAY 753k traveling along Dokolo-Amolatar Highway on Monday around 11:45pm.

A primary school teacher in Amolatar district has been confirmed dead after he was knocked by a speeding vehicle.

The deceased identified as Nelson Omara, has been a teacher at Amolatar Primary School.

  He was reportedly knocked and died instantly by a speeding passenger vehicle, Toyota-Noah registration number UAY 753k traveling along Dokolo-Amolatar Highway on Monday at around 11:45pm.

Geoffrey Akaka, the Dokolo District Traffic Officer said the incident took place at Corner Cwagere Trading Centre, Kangai Sub County in Dokolo.   

Akaka said the both the vehicle and the motorcycle the deceased was using have been impounded by traffic police personnel.

Tony Opio, an eye witness said the deceased while riding a motorcycle Yamaha AG, red in color registration number UG 0699Z traveling towards Dokolo town reportedly got involved in a head on collision with the vehicle.

According to Opio, the deceased was trying to negotiate and dodge a pothole on the Dokolo-Amolatar highway at Corner Cwagere at the time of the incident.

Omara's body has been retrieved from the scene and taken to Dokolo Health center IV for a postmortem. The unidentified driver reportedly run away.

Police preliminary report attributed the accident to reckless driving and over speeding by the passenger vehicle.

The 50km Highway stretch from Dokolo town via Ochero in Kaberamaido district to Amolatar town has remained in bad shape for more than six months. Despite being narrow, the road is full of potholes following the recent heavy rains.
