Another Person Killed in Lwengo

Unknown assailants have killed another person in Lwengo district. 

The deceased is Goreth Mukabayiro, a resident of Kabusirabo Village in Lwengo Rural Sub County in Lwengo district.

Her killing comes three days after the Lwengo District accountant, Eric Ngabo was also strangled to death and his body dumped by the roadside.  

Passersby found Mukabayiro’s body in the garden on Monday morning.  

The deceased’s neighbor, Francis Lubowa, says Mukabayiro was last seen alive on Saturday.

He says they were shocked to receive information that she had been found dead in a garden on Monday morning.  

He says the fresh murders have triggered fear among residents and calls on police to step patrols in the area to protect residents. 

The Lwengo Rural Sub county LC 3 Chairperson, Joseph Lubega Bazonona has also expressed concern over increasing murder cases in his area. 

He asked police to expedite investigations into the murders and apprehend those culpable. 

He also asked residents to revive their neighborhood watch groups and be vigilant, especially on strangers in their villages as they wait for protection from security agencies.

The Southern Region Police Spokesperson, Lameck Kigozi, says police investigations into the matter have kicked off. 

Kigozi says police is also investigating allegations that the deceased could have been killed by her husband who has been accusing her of infidelity.
