Wanje later told URN in a telephone interview that he could not facilitate the tour because the organizers did not make adequate preparation. He accused the district Speaker, Peter Obong and other members of the advance team who went for a feasibility study in Sironko District for failure to submit any report to his office on their findings.
Aduku district councillors are outraged about a
botched study tour. A team of 35 councillors and an unspecified number of
technical staff were scheduled to travel to Sironko district on April 30, 2021
for a two-day’s study tour.
Some councillors and technical staff left
their homes on Friday morning ready for the tour. However, the Chief
Administrative Officer-CAO Michael Wanje neither showed up nor released the Shillings
17million budgeted for the tour.
The money was meant to cater for the accommodation,
transport, meals and out of pocket allowances for the councillors and technical
staff. Andrew Awan, the Atik Division LC V councillor accused the CAO of hiding at
the municipal headquarters to dodge them.

Obong denied the allegations levelled against
him and instead blamed the CAO for failure to play his part. He pledged to do
everything possible to ensure the councillors go for the study tour.

Daudi Odora, the Chegere Sub County male councillor,
said that the trip will help them to learn new ideas and how the district has
managed to excel in service delivery. Odora explained that they resolved to
visit Sironko district to learn how they can boost local revenue collection and
learn modern farming methods, which has failed for the second time following
their botched attempt in March.
