Former Presidential candidate Charles James Ssenkubuge has been nominated to contest for the position of Kampala Lord Mayor. Ssenkubuga was nominated on the Democratic Party ticket which had initially been given to Beatrice Kayanja, who however was ejected for not being a registered voter.

Ssenkubuge a renowned drama actor and radio personality says that he has joined the race to eliminate 'drama' from the politics and leadership of Kampala. Ssenkubuge said he has lived and worked in Kampala for more than 30 years and couldn’t take in more of the suffering that city dwellers are subjected to as their leaders only focus on personal political battles and interests to enrich themselves.
